Since Lizzie did so much for my baby shower, I of course told her I wanted to help with hers. Little did anyone know that she wouldn’t be able to have a typical shower, on account of being in the hospital for so long. Instead, we threw her an open house type of shower the weekend before last so people could come by, see the girls, and wish Lizzie well.
There were six of us working together to put on a nice party for Lizzie, and I think everything turned out great. We had lots of yummy food and drinks, photobooks for the guests to sign, and two fun activities for people to do if they wanted. We made birthday cards for the girls, as well as collaborated to create A-B-C books for them. I did the letter “R.” So fun!
Emma was not in the best of moods during the shower, but I got to hold Hazel for a bit. She did so great being passed around from person to person. She never got fussy and seemed like she was just taking it all in, except for when she took a short snooze in Kel-Kel’s arms.
Both of them are such sweet girls. I loved getting the chance to honor them and their wonderful mama. Lizzie holds a special place in my heart, and it’s been so fun to watch her transition into her new role as mom.
Except for that whole living in the hospital for 4 months. But at least she gets to hold that over her girls’ heads for the rest of their lives!
