Unlike the past two years, we did not visit the pumpkin patch and attend Oktoberfest all in one day. Instead, we went to Oktoberfest on Friday night and went to Mrs. Heather’s pumpkin patch the next morning. Diana and Alcee and Dana, David, Claire, and Colin all came too. The kids were stoked to see so much of each other in one weekend.
We really lucked out with the weather. It was supposed to be hot, just like last year, but it remained blessedly overcast and breezy right up until we left. Perfect.
I made the boys take some pics with the pumpkins first, and I am so glad I did. They ran nonstop for almost two hours and were pretty tired and cranky by the time we decided to leave. All five kids loved the jumping pillow and playing among the hay bales. Both of my boys rode the zipline this year, and the older kids loved finding corn in the corn maze and bringing it back to their teepee “fort.” And of course the slides, swings, and sand pit were also hits. There’s just so much to do at Mrs. Heather’s!
Right before we left, I bribed the kids to take a couple of last pictures for me. They did a great job cooperating and earned candy corn and Airhead bites as a reward!
I thought for sure both boys would fall asleep on the way home, but they zoned out and watched a movie instead.
October always seems to be one of our busiest months but it’s so much fun. More good times coming up this weekend…..have a good one, everyone!
