T-Shirt Capes and Light Saber Duels

Jack’s birthday party was the weekend before last, and it was Star Wars themed. Just like Riley’s will be in a couple of weeks! Those two boys are a bit obsessed. Can’t you tell?

The party was held at BooKoo Bounce, which is newly expanded. LOTS of bounce houses for the kids to play in. Claire and Colin were practically attached to Riley’s hip, and Rory loved going down the big slides, once he finally agreed to climb up there. Then he went over and over and over again.

When bouncing time was over, we moved into the party room for pizza and cake. Jack had a double layer cookie cake with Star Wars decorations on top. Riley’s face was amazed when he saw it.

But the cake was nothing compared to the favors that Kelli and Steve had for all of the kids: pool noodle light sabers. You may or may not see the same thing handed out at Riley’s party. Great minds think alike, I suppose, because I had already gotten all of the supplies to make them for Riley’s guests before we even went to Jack’s party.

Both boys have had so much fun with their light sabers. Earlier Saturday morning, before the party, I happened to remember a DIY superhero cape tutorial I pinned a while back on Pinterest, so I made a couple from old t-shirts of mine. Who knew that spontaneous craft would be even more fun when we added the light sabers to the mix?

He tried on both, but Riley, a.k.a. Darth Vader, obviously preferred the black cape.

Some of the light saber duels around here have been epic. Kenny even got involved and helped Rory out a couple of times.

Although Rory has proven able to hold his own. Even if he just runs away from his big brother, which is what he often does. But he does it with a smile on his face!

T-shirt capes and light saber duels. Just one of the many perks of having two little boys in the house.

I wouldn’t trade that for the world.
