Post-Thanksgiving Farm Trip

Kenny and the boys left for the farm on Black Friday morning. Grandma and Grandpa, Zac, and the ‘Woods went up as well. They had a great time fishing, getting dirty, eating dinner around the campfire, and then going on a hayride the next morning.

I chose to stay back and get the house decorated for Christmas on Friday and then drove up on Saturday. It was such a nice day to spend up there; I hadn’t been to the farm in a long time.

Debbie and Paul used Scoops on Saturday to help feed the cows, with Grandpa’s supervision. There may or may not have been a small competition to see who operated it better.

And Riley was super excited to find the bones of a cow in one of the fields while we were up there. He has a whole collection now, which I made him leave in the barn.

Kenny was able to get the LSU game on TV out by the fire on Saturday evening, which Grandpa was so happy about. We had a yummy fajita campfire dinner, and Rory ended up falling asleep on me before the game was over. He had been nonstop running his dump truck all day long, and he finally crashed.

Kenny and I woke up with amazingly awesome hair the next morning. Everyone had breakfast at the house and then jumped on the big hay bales before we headed home. Great way to end our time there.

It was such a nice weekend, and we enjoyed getting to spend more time with Deb, Paul, Nick, and James. They’re never here long enough!

We stopped to get our Christmas tree on our way home, and it just may be our biggest and fattest tree to date. I’ll show her to y’all next!

Thanksgiving 2017

Thanksgiving morning went very similarly to last year, although it was much cooler weather. The ‘Woods and I headed to City Park early to run the 5-mile NOAC Turkey Trot. I even had a special shirt to wear that I made earlier in the week. Cute, right?

Kenny and Grandma brought the boys to play at the playground near Morning Call, so they saw us all run by. Riley really wanted to finish the race with us; perhaps he’ll actually run in it next year.

Nick and James really wanted beignets after the race, so we all headed to Cafe du Monde in the Quarter. The line was really long when we got there but it moved quickly and we didn’t have to wait too long. Beignets and cafe au lait tasted really good after running 5 miles.

Kenny’s family had Thanksgiving at our house, but it was our year to be with my family. We arrived at Nola and Nopsi’s house around 1:30pm and had a really nice afternoon. Cub, Car, and Asher unfortunately weren’t able to make it in town like they had planned, but QP and James were in from France, and AD#1 and Joan were in attendance as well. Everything looked so pretty and the food was so tasty.

I hope everyone’s Thanksgivings were as nice as ours was. We spent the next few days at the farm with Kenny’s family before they had to go back to Cali. That recap coming up next; have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Fun with Friends in City Park

We spent the Tuesday before Thanksgiving with school friends at City Park. We let the kids play on the playground first, then we got beignets at Morning Call, then we walked over to the Sculpture Garden, then we went to a new playground by the soccer fields. It was quite a morning.
