Christmas Eve and Day 2020

Christmas Eve dinner at GW Fin's was slightly different this year, but it was just as delicious as it usually is. We all had to wear masks upon entering the restaurant and could take them off while we were seated. They put us in the private room, which we had all to ourselves. The kids entertained themselves with the table decorations and games of Heads Up on Erin's phone. They all also pretended to sleep on the floor at one point for some reason. And Riley and Kate ordered fancy drinks for dessert that they both loved. It was nice being out all together in a festive place.

We left the restaurant, drove around looking at lights for a bit, and then headed home to feed the reindeer and open our Christmas Eve gifts. The boys said their last goodbyes to their elf pets and even helped Roux out by taking down his lights. So sweet. Once they were in bed, Kenny and I got everything from Santa taken care of (while we watched A Christmas Story and I had my chocolate martini, of course) and we finally went to bed just before 1am.

Everyone was up around 7am on Christmas morning. Top of the stairs picture, then stockings, then presents under the tree. The boys were so excited, which made me so happy. Kenny and I weren't sure they would be excited about their new bikes, but they seemed to be. Oh, and Kenny got me a leg lamp ornament! So awesome.

Once they had opened everything from Santa, Kenny and I told them that we had a few extra things for them this year. I wrapped up three things for each of them and one last joint gift: they each got Mickey Mouse pajamas, Disney masks, and a special Disney t-shirt. The last gift was our magic bands. We were going to Disney World!!!

They both seemed pretty pumped about it, especially when we told them we were leaving in two days. They weren't super excited about having to wear masks, but we told them they didn't have a choice if they wanted to go. It's Disney's rules! (Internally, I was crossing all of my fingers and toes and praying that the masks wouldn't be an issue. And guess what? They weren't. They did awesome wearing them the whole time.)

We got dressed and headed over to Nola and Nopsi's around 10am. They were thrilled to be able to share the news about our trip. We had a yummy breakfast and then opened more presents.

We had Kenny's family over to our house that afternoon for Christmas dinner and more gifts. Riley unexpectedly fell asleep after we ate and had to be woken up and dragged out of bed for presents. Too funny. Grandma gave each family a 2020 ornament, and she and Grandpa got the boys each their own computer. They were SO excited. Kenny took the time to set them up the next day, even though we had a lot of packing and preparing to do for our drive to Orlando. He's such a good daddy.

And with that, Christmas was over. It definitely had a different feel to it, but that's par for the course this year. We were all still able to be together, and that's all that mattered.
