In ELA, they discussed pronouns (subject, object, intensive, reflexive, possessive, relative, demonstrative, interrogative, indefinite), verbs (linking, action, helping), and adjectives. They also learned about tense agreement, sentence structure, commas, quotation marks, idioms, abbreviations, and contractions.
In math, they continued with multiplication (including the associative, distributive, and commutative properties) and division and then moved on to fractions. They also learned about expressions, formulas, and the order of operations.
In religion, they learned about Epiphany, loving God most of all, vocations awareness, God's day, obedience and love, purity and truth, Lent, and Jesus' wisdom.
In science, they learned about plants and their parts, animals and their parts, animal classifications, and the sun and the Earth. They also completed a big animal project. Riley was assigned the swordfish, so he learned all about its structure, habitat, food sources, and adaptations. He did a great job.
The third graders also completed a lucky family shamrock project and sketched self portraits for their gala art project. Their drawings are being made into a t-shirt!
And they celebrated Catholic Schools Week, exchanged Valentines, studied the United States during Global Awareness Week, and enjoyed a Wizard of Oz movie morning after their exams.
Less than six weeks of third grade to go!
