If you can believe it, Rory is done with PK4 and Riley’s last day is today. Summer is here, y’all, whether I like it or not!
Here are some of the activities that happened during the last two months of school. On March 21 I went to Riley’s classroom to help with their Easter art project: creating Easter eggs using Mardi Gras beads. So creative! And everyone’s eggs were so different; I loved seeing what they came up with. Love that Riley put a big “R” in the middle of his!
On April 25, Rory and his classmates created their class project for the gala auction. It came out so cute!
April 30 through May 4 was teacher appreciation week. We spoiled all four of the boys’ teachers with gifts every day and they loved it!
May 2 was the 2nd grade post-communion Breaking Bread Feast. Members of the administration came, as well as a few of the Sunrise residents. It was a really nice meal for everyone, and a wonderful way to celebrate everything the second graders accomplished.
On May 8, all of the room moms and the two coordinators were honored at morning assembly. So nice that they do this; it really is a big job! But so very rewarding.
On May 9, Kenny got to go to Riley’s class and help with their special Mother’s Day art project. I love that Kenny loves being there for things like this!
Rory missed his Bye Bye Buddy Breakfast on May 9 because he was sick with strep, but he got to go to the end of the year luau lunch in his classroom on May 15. So fun!
Riley’s teacher Ms. Cobb is getting married in June, so the second grade room moms decided to throw her a surprise school bridal shower on May 17. The kids blew bubbles when she walked in, Kelli made her a veil to wear, and her fiance Jeffrey showed up as an extra surprise. Plus there were doughnuts, balloons, gifts, games, and even a second line down the hall. SO freaking cute!
My favorite was the “Lesson Plan for a Happy Marriage” booklet that the kids worked on for the special couple. Here’s Riley advice. That very last blank cracks me up every time!
On May 21 Rory and I both went to Riley’s class to help with their last art project of the year. They made a really sweet gift for their dads for Father’s Day. You’ll have to wait until then to see what it is, though!
We also ran into Mrs. Sue while we were at school. She and Rory had the same shirt on! She was busy cleaning out her classroom after a long and fun year. I cannot believe that my baby will be in kindergarten in August!
Finally, second grade had “Meet the Author” day on May 22. They all collaborated to write short little stories about one of their favorite events that occurred during this school year, drew pictures to go along with their writing, and then everything was bound into a book. Riley wrote about making blankets at Sunrise. They each read their story aloud in the library in front of the whole grade, their teachers, some of the administration, and lots of family members. It was a really sweet event!
Fourth quarter and last day recaps coming up as soon as I can find time to do them. School’s out for the summer, y’all!
