Riley’s birthday party this year was on Saturday morning, August 26. He requested the same huge waterslide that was at a Fourth of July party we attended, and Kenny and I quickly determined that it wouldn’t fit in our yard. So we held the party at Nola and Nopsi’s house. THANK YOU!
As always, the weather was a factor and we debated canceling the party. But it turned out perfect and everyone had a great time. There were about 20 kids in attendance and they were up and down that slide for two hours straight.
At Riley’s request, Kenny and Grandma made two cakes, both Lego Ninjago themed: the Overlord and the Golden Ninja. They came out so great. We took a slight break from the slide to sing “Happy Birthday” and dole out cake to the hungry kids.
Then it was back to the slide for more fun (with water balloons, too!) before the party was over.
However, a handful of people stuck around for a couple more hours. I told Dana and Diana that since we had the slide all day, they were welcome to stay as long as they wanted. We got pizza and hot dogs for lunch and the fun continued. A few of us big kids (including Nopsi!) even braved the massive slide.
The weather started to threaten around 2pm, and we headed inside once the rain began falling. Riley finally got to open his presents, which he loved. Dana was so excited that she found a snake shirt just like Colin’s for Riley, and he loves it.
Once the sun came back out (after less than an hour), we were right back outside. Riley stayed in to build one of his new Lego sets but joined us eventually. The guys came to pick up the slide a little after 6pm and we finally headed home after an exhausting but awesome day.
Actual birthday recap coming up next!
