Our last day of skiing was pretty close to picture-perfect. The wind was still blowing, but the sky was all blue and white, and the sun was shining full blast. Simply put, a gorgeous day to be on the mountain.
Seven of us departed the house with a solid game plan in mind: Jeff, Keegan, Doug, Kenny, and I headed straight over to Peak 9 to ski one of our favorite runs, Lehman, while Trisha and Jenn took a more leisurely journey to the greens on 9. Oh, and Kenny even donned his luchador mask in honor of our last day and Doug’s upcoming nuptials to Lizzie!
And as luck would have it, we ran into Jenn and Trisha partway down the Lehman run and were able to coerce a fellow skier to take a group picture of us. Score!
After fully finishing Lehman (thus leaving Trisha and Jenn to their own devices), we skied back over to Peak 8, stopping at a slalom course on the way, where Kenny solidly beat Jeff in their head-to-head race. Sorry, bro!
We then took the 4 O’Clock run all the way to town and the base of the gondola (which we had never done before but was disappointingly lackluster). There we met back up with Trisha and Jenn, as well as Erin and Scott, and we all rode the gondola up to the base of Peak 8 for lunch. This was something Erin could do, and I’m so glad we made it work. Peak 8’s new BBQ smokehouse restaurant was dynamite!
After lunch, the boys and I got in a last few runs while the rest went back to the house. Silliness in the snow behind the house promptly ensued: this is apparently what happens when you find a couple of plastic sleds on the back deck. Oh my, Lizzie and Scotty; oh my.
Friday was the last night we would all be together, since the four drivers had to leave on Saturday afternoon (we luckily had an easy and uneventful trip back). We were all pretty tired, so a low-key night was just what we needed. We played games, helped Lizzie with a bit of wedding planning, watched some mindless tv, ate, drank, and laughed. Good times.
So Breck 2012 is in the books. It was a great trip with a fabulous group of people. I’m so glad my brother and I get along with each other’s friends!
Goodbye, majestic mountains of Colorado…..
…..see you next time!

Again you take fabulous pictures or should I say photos - breathtaking to say the least. Hugs, Grams-
What beautiful country! Looks like a fabulous time had by all! Love the mask, Ken ... hope the knee is ok! Loved reading/seeing about your vacation!
At least I made it a good showing in the race....he has at least 10 years of experience on me, yet he only beat my by 3 seconds! Next time, Ken. Next time.
