A Busy New Year

I had every intention of posting about the rest of Christmas weekend sometime last week but just didn’t get the chance to do so. Kenny and I went over to Bridget and Brian’s house on Saturday night for a small get together with some of our friends. It was so good to see everyone in one place; that unfortunately doesn’t happen often enough these days.

And after watching the embarrassing loss by the Saints to the Bucs on Sunday afternoon we were finally able to head home and unwind a bit after a busy holiday. There wasn’t much time to do so, as we were back on the road to NOLA on New Year’s Eve.

Karen and Jeff graciously hosted a party at their house, and we had lots of fun watching the kids run around, eating good food, covering our ears against really loud fireworks (thanks to Steve and Brian), and celebrating the start of another decade.

There was no rest for the weary (i.e. me) the next day. Kenny and I left my parents’ house just before 10am so I could drop him off at home and then meet up with my brother’s fiancée and friends. We were headed to Houston for Erin’s bachelorette weekend.

We stayed in the first night, with a Mexican takeout dinner from Chuy’s, drinks, games, and general silliness. The next day dawned bright and cold: perfect shopping weather. We bundled up and set out to conquer the Galleria. Five hours later, everyone was carrying various purchases and we decided to call it quits.

After a quick freshening up back at the house we were off again to our first stop of the night: Benjy’s for appetizers and drinks. Very fun place with a great atmosphere. Our next stop was Ra Sushi for dinner. We were lucky enough to snag a table in the bar area, eliminating the hour and a half wait. Another great place with a fun vibe. Our last stop was at a bar called The Pearl. Great music and a dance floor. What more does a girl need?

I hope you had lots of fun, Erin….you’re less than one week away from officially becoming a member of the family! Kenny and I can’t wait to celebrate with you and my baby brother. Your wedding will be an occasion to remember. Love ya!
