Ten Things

1. We had our first Dave and Buster's experience at Rory's friend Stephann's birthday party on October 5. That place is insane. But Riley, who walked around with Kenny while Rory and I attended the party, was on fire in a harpoon fishing game and ended up with almost 2000 credits. His skill earned the boys plush Mario and Yoshi dolls!

2. This happened right in front of SCR at the beginning of October. So scary!

Also, the Times-Picayune building was demolished recently and the only thing left standing was the tower. But even that came down a couple of weeks ago. So sad.

3. Riley decided to save 4 crawfish from our annual boil and keep them as pets. He said he wanted them to last all the way until our next boil, but unfortunately that didn't happen. They lived in a big plastic tub on our back porch for most of their time with us, but we lost one. Then Kenny set up an old aquarium of his and transferred the remaining three. Two more died (hopefully because of age, not their new environment), so we encouraged Riley to release the last one. Kenny took both boys to the spillway one Sunday and Riley let his last crawfish go. So proud of him for realizing that his little buddy would be better off!

4. The boys' October pack meeting took place in Jean Lafitte National Park. They went on a hike and spotted dragonflies, birds, and even a snake!

5. We voted!

6. Kenny's alma mater, Brother Martin, hosts a Legacy Night in the fall, and this year the boys went. They had a great time checking out their daddy's old high school. They especially loved the wrestling practice room and the music room.

7. Our annual visit to St. Augustine's pumpkin patch!

8. Alcee's birthday party this year was a trip to the movie theater to see The Adams Family and then a group dinner at Reginelli's. So much fun.

9. Jeff and I signed up to run the Spillway Classic again this year, which was supposed to be held in July. However, since the spillway had to be opened for so long to relieve the pressure on the river, they rescheduled the race for October. However, the really messy fun section of the course (the "gauntlet") was still not safe to run through, so it was a super boring out and back 2-mile levee trail run. Lynn ended up doing it with us, too, and she was ecstatic to find out we wouldn't get muddy. She really had no idea what she had signed up for at the last minute. But she did promise to do it for real with us next year!

10. Kate starred in a play at her school last month called The Best Haunted House Ever. She played the role of a witch, came onstage for two minutes at the very end, and danced to "Monster Mash." Nola, Nopsi, Spo, and I went to see her on October 20. She did great! It was a cute show.

Did you think I would leave you without a Sleepy pic??? Come on now.

Merci for all, especially the sleepy pic, and the TP tower. I spent 30 years of my working life in that building! Weird to see it go down.

Will be weird to drive downtown and not see the TP tower. Too bad they could not have found another use for it. Love this post ... so much info in it and great pics (especially the last one!).
