The rest of our beach vacation was more of the same: sun and surf, resting and relaxing, eating and drinking, laughing and playing. It was so nice spending so much time in the same place; we all really enjoyed being together.
On Wednesday morning, we attempted to get a family picture out on the beach, and it went much like the cousins picture did a few weeks ago……
First, the sun is in Riley’s eyes, and he’s not happy about it. At all.
Riley’s temperament is improved with the addition of a hat, but Rory’s hat is too big and obscures most of his face.
Pretty good, but now the sun is in Rory’s eyes.
This may be the best we’re going to get…..
…..because Riley is DONE.
We tried again a couple of days later, and this is the best we got:
Ah, now here’s a girl who knows what to do in front of a camera. I gave Kate this bathing suit for Easter. Too cute, goddaughter!
Her family picture with Uncle Jeff and Aunt E came out much better than ours. Oh well; c’est la vie!
Luckily, I got some really great shots of Riley and Rory together on the sand on our last day.
I decided I really wanted to get pictures of both of them on their beach towels after taking some just of Rory on his earlier in the week.
Kenny dug out two little sand seats for the boys, and, with the help of M&Ms to bribe the big one, I captured some great memories.
Then, a couple of hours later, we attempted to get a cousins picture. Kate and Rory were amenable (and even held hands for a bit)…..
….however, no amount of M&Ms could have convinced Riley to cooperate. He completely melted down. (While Kate plants her hand squarely on Rory’s face. Ha.)
Then Kate decided she’d had enough and crawled toward the water: “I’m outta here, boys!”
Meanwhile, Riley scampered off in the other direction, hoping for the safety of the condo. No such luck, my boy. I will get this picture despite your awful attitude.
Miraculously, Riley acquiesced immediately when we moved the picture location to the edge of the water. I guess Kate had the right idea when she crawled that way because we got some great shots. Oh, and check out Rory’s mohawk….gnarly, right?
All too soon, Saturday morning came and it was time to pack up and head home. It was a great week, and I am already looking forward to next year. It sure will be nice to have Rory out there more, playing alongside his brother and his cousin.
And you know it was a good trip when the wonk potatoes falls asleep again in the car on the way home.
Thank you, Nola and Nopsi, for taking us on this fabulous beach vacation. We enjoyed our time with everyone immensely. Let’s do it again next year!
