Although you might not have been able to tell since I was miraculously ahead on my posting, we were out of town all last week on vacation in Pensacola Beach. Nola and Nopsi took the four of us and Uncle Jeff, Aunt E, and Kate on what is sure to become the first of many annual summer trips.
We left fairly early on Saturday morning (Nola’s birthday!) and I was pleasantly surprised that both boys were well-behaved all the way until our first stop at the Burris Farm Market for fresh fruits and veggies.
After that stop, we suffered through some traffic to get down to Lulu’s restaurant for lunch, the birthday girl’s request. Kenny and I had never been before. It’s quite a place, and Riley had a blast playing in the sand.
It was also Kate’s very first time feeling sand between her toes. She wasn’t too happy about it at first, but you can bet that by the time we left to come home a week later, she was an old pro.
The kiddos had so much fun at lunch that they all passed out on our last leg of the trip and didn’t wake up until we were on the bridge to Pensacola Beach.
I can’t remember the last time Riley fell asleep that hard in the car, and he was completely out of it when he woke up.
But he perked up when we arrived at our home away from home for the next week, as did we all.
We practically lived in our bathing suits for the next six days. We ate too much, drank too much, dealt with only a few meltdowns from whiny children (read: RILEY), went through multiple cans of sunscreen, and had a whole lot of fun.
Lots more stories and pictures from our fun beach vacation to come!
