Christmas Giving to Toys for Tots

Like we did last year, Kenny’s family pooled our Christmas spending money and distributed the total evenly among the five grandsons for them to shop for other, less fortunate kids. Riley, Rory, and Zac shopped together on December 16. Since there’s no more Toys ‘R Us (at least for now), we went to Walmart and had a very successful morning.

We filled up three baskets with all kinds of presents, for boys and girls alike. The boys paid for it all and even helped load it back into the baskets and then into the cars. Then we drove it all over to a Toys for Tots event on the Westbank to make our donation. A couple of very nice Marines were running the event, and they assured us that our gifts, along with many others, would be distributed to kids in our area before Christmas, which was just what we wanted.

When we got back home, both boys ran up to tell Roux what they had just done. They were proud for him to know. And I think they were hoping he’d tell Santa what a good deed they had done.

I truly hope the boys are able to look back on these times with fondness one day, and remember that what they did made a difference in so many kids’ lives.

‘Tis the season for giving. Happy Holidays, y’all!

Such a noble thing to do, and a wonderful, generous thing for two young boys to participate in ... willingly giving up several Christmas gifts to those less fortunate. I just love this family!
