Ten Things

1. Cub was in town for a very short visit in early September, and we all went to dinner at Drago’s one night. Yum!

2. Last swim of the season, obsessed with the Goosebumps series, showing off his 8th lost tooth, two sick boys, and displaying his MOC Lego Goosebumps town.

 

 

3. The same rainbow, less than 10 minutes apart. Nature is so cool.

4. My heart was completely with the city of Wilmington, NC when massive Hurricane Florence went through there in mid-September. My friends Jackie and Pat were very lucky and did not get much damage at all, but the city sustained quite a bit. I pray things get back to normal over there soon.

5. Homework hour. Rory has some too this year!

6. After school fun at Nola and Nopsi’s! It’s getting mighty difficult to fit all four kids on the swing these days.

7. I may need new shoes sooner than I’d like. And a really large possum appeared in our backyard and hung around for a few days. Crazy.

 

8. Two plays in less than a week: Music Man at Rivertown with Karen and Molly (and free drinks!) and Aladdin at the Saenger with Nopsi. Both were wonderful!

 

9. Nopsi’s birthday dinner!

School Days: Grandparents’ Day

The annual SCR Grandparents’ Day was held on September 28 this year. It’s always a crazy and chaotic day, but the boys absolutely love being able to show their four grandparents their new classrooms. Oh, and they also love getting books from the book fair. So smart to hold that event the week of Grandparents’ Day!

Nola and Nopsi and Grandma and Grandpa met the boys in church for mass. Then they went to Rory’s classroom, Riley’s classroom, and finally the book fair in the cafeteria. Both boys had special gifts for their grandparents; I especially loved Riley’s class heritage project that I helped him complete. He got extra credit for submitting pictures of his grandparents with the project, so I requested pictures of the four of them when they were around Riley’s current age. So special!

Thank you, Nola, Nopsi, Grandma, and Grandpa, for giving up a day in order to spend it with my boys. We love you!

School Days: Muffins with Moms, Parent Picnic, and Frog of the Week {Rory}

Rory is doing so well in kindergarten. He loves Mrs. Allison and Mrs. Ceci, he’s writing a lot, and he’s learning sight words and starting to read on his own. So impressive.

On the morning of September 7, I got to join my boy for Muffins with Moms. Kenny and a few other dads came in to help serve, and all of the moms and their kids enjoyed mini blueberry and chocolate chip muffins in the cafeteria. And apparently Rory and I like to make blueberry ice cream together. (Newsflash: we’ve never actually done that.)

Then on September 26, Kenny and I both got to join Rory for a Parent Picnic lunch in the parking lot. It was SO. HOT. that day, but we enjoyed spending time with our boy.

Last week was a special one for Rory: he was chosen as Frog of the Week. All week long his class got to learn more about him and what he likes. He completed a poster over the weekend and presented it to his class on Monday. On Tuesday he brought in his favorite book, Creepy Pair of Underwear. On Wednesday he brought in his favorite snack to share with the class, Paw Patrol gummies. Thursday was show and tell, with his tigers! And on Friday he got to have a special guest with him at lunch: me! Such a fun week for him.
