2020 Christmas Tree and 26 Days of Roux

Early on Black Friday morning, we went out to get our 2020 Christmas tree. We tried Home Depot first, and like in some years past, we bought the first tree I spotted. She was actually laying in the middle of the walkway, thrown down and discarded by someone else. She had a beautiful shape most of the way around, but was very bare and scraggly in the back. However, that works perfectly for us since our tree is always in a corner. So I deemed her ours and named her Betty.

Kenny got her into the house the same day, but we didn't decorate her until the following day. The boys, however, chose to decorate their little tree on the landing on that Friday though. I just love that they have it. (Thank you, Nola and Nopsi!) I also asked the boys to put the nativity magnets on the refrigerator. Which they did. In their own special way.

The next morning, Kenny got lights on Betty, and then the four of us decorated her that afternoon. The boy helped quite a bit and did a great job. She turned out looking beautiful!

We spent all weekend getting the house ready for Christmas. As always, I wasn't ready for it but once it was all done, I was all in. And of course, with a fully decorated Christmas tree comes the return of Roux. He flew back from the North Pole on Sunday morning, bringing Cocoa and Brown, the boys' reindeer pals, with him. The reindeer also brought two other friends with them: St. Bernard dogs, one for each of the boys. They were so excited. Rory's is named Stuffie and Riley's is Barrel.

Here's 26 days with Roux. He and all the pets fly back to the North Pole for good tonight, but we sure have enjoyed having them here.

Merry Christmas Eve, y'all!
