I love, Love, LOVE the song “Uptown Funk,” by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars. I first heard it performed on Ellen and thought it was just so much fun.
A few days later, I decided to download my new favorite song on iTunes and then proceeded to play it on repeat the rest of the afternoon. As such, Riley and Rory heard it over and over and over again.
Apparently, the wonk potatoes grew to love the song as much as his mama. I’ve heard him singing snippets at various times during the day: while he’s playing, while he’s walking upstairs, while he’s eating dinner, etc.
He doesn’t get all of the words right, which is good since the lyric “uptown funk you up” could easily be misconstrued for something way inappropriate. Instead, he sings “uptown funky work” and “too hot, hot dang” and “Michelle What-a-What.” (That last one cracks me up: he can’t remember Pfeiffer.)
I have been impressed with just how much of the words he knows. Even if he sings them slightly wrong, it’s obvious he’s got most of the song down. I asked if I could take a video of him singing and he surprisingly agreed to perform yesterday morning. Please enjoy.
Happy Monday!
