Summer Days at Miramar Beach

Our annual trip to Miramar Beach took place a bit earlier than usual this year. Kenny couldn't take extra days off, so he didn't come up as early as we did. The boys and I loaded up on Wednesday, May 29 and headed to meet Diana, Dana, and krewe for 4 nights of fun.

We made decent time and arrived in time for a quick dip in the pool before settling in at the condo. Dana, Dave, Claire, and Colin got there a few hours after we did. The kids were all so excited to be together!

The next morning, Jamey found a truly awful movie on tv called Ragin' Cajun Redneck Gators that totally hooked Riley in. He didn't move from the couch until it was over. An hour later we were all finally out at the beach for a fun day in the sun. Then it was margaritas, dinner, and games (girls only since the guys both passed out on the couches!) back at the condo before turning in for the night.

Friday was very slow paced: we didn't get out to the beach until close to 3. Everyone made the most of our time, though: Rory jumped some waves, the girls turned into mermaids and made a new friend, and Riley built some cool sandcastles and, of course, dug a big hole.

Kenny arrived late Friday evening, and we all went back out to the beach for a few hours on Saturday.  It started out as a nice day (although there was TONS of algae in the water.....Dana pulled clumps of it out of Claire's bathing suit!), but some rain moved in and drove most of our group to the pool. Riley, however, was way too busy constructing a sand city, so Kenny and I stayed out with him while everyone else left. His finished product was quite impressive; a nearby {slightly tipsy} college guy even came up to him and told him so!

We had one last night together (the adults even played a fun new meme game!) and then everyone headed their separate ways on Sunday. But we did recreate a kids picture on the stairs from 2017 before we left. They're all getting way too big.

Kenny and I were unfortunately in two cars, so we both had to drive home. The boys came with me since I have the DVD player. Rory fell asleep for a bit while Riley watched Shark Tale

We made it home with no issues, although Riley was sad we had to leave. Diana, Jamey, and Alcee stayed until Tuesday, but Kenny had to go back to work and I had to prepare for another upcoming trip. Kenny and I left for the Dominican Republic a few days later!
