Since NYE was on a Sunday, we started out the night at Nola and Nopsi’s. The kids were in rare form and even had a dance party before we had dinner. We also had festive hats, noise makers, and poppers, and they insisted on going out to run around in the cold before we left. Partay!
We left Nola and Nopsi’s around 8 and headed over to Bridget and Brian’s for their annual NYE party. Michelle and David drove in with their boys for the night, and it was so good to see them. I also got to hold baby Molly, who fell asleep on me. So sweet. And the boys had a great time playing with friends, going from inside to outside to inside again. It was SO cold this night!
Then, at five minutes to midnight, Steve came looking for Kenny to tell him that someone had just hit our car, which was parked across the street from the house. Some drunk/stoned guy in a stolen tow truck smashed into the back of it. Kenny called the police, who came out very quickly and ended up catching the guy (who tried to flee on foot after abandoning the truck in an empty lot two streets away) and arresting him. Happy freaking New Year.
We got home just before 1am and everyone was up before 9am. Michelle and her fam stayed with us, which Riley loved. The 5 boys played for a bit before Michelle and David had to get on the road for home. After they left, the four of us snuggled a lot and ended up having a Popeye’s picnic in the living room for lunch.
Hopefully the way 2017 ended wasn’t a sign of things to come in 2018. Happy New Year, everyone!
