Nopsi’s birthday is on September 25, so we celebrated at Sunday dinner the day before. The birthday boy doesn’t eat dessert, but he does like a good martini. So Kenny worked really hard to create a dessert martini buffet for us to all sample. We had 6 offerings (plus port): chocolate, praline, butterscotch, almond joy, salted caramel, and reese’s. So much fun!
Last Friday Nola and Nopsi kept the boys overnight so Kenny and I could have a fun night out. They slept under the dining room table again and had a great time.
We went with Dana and David and Diana and Jamey to dinner at Gendusa’s and then to Rivertown to see Hello, Dawlin. The show was touted as a rib-tickling spoof on Broadway, New Orleans-style. Local performers Ricky Graham, Varla Jean Merman, and Sean Patterson blew through more than 30 well-known Broadway shows in a fast-paced, straight-through, 90-minute musical revue with classic New Orleans twists. Nola was the one who actually told me to see it; she and Nopsi saw it back in the spring and loved it. The show was so popular that they revived it for a handful of encore performances in September. I’m so glad we went; we all laughed so hard and thoroughly enjoyed it.
After the show, we went to a bar called Shenanigans to see the Funky Beans play their first gig in a very long time. It was great to see those guys on stage again and hang out with friends we hadn’t seen for a while. It was a really great(and late!) night.
Dana and I also had fun plans the next night. We got together with a group of SCR 2nd grade moms for dinner at Vincent’s. There were 17 of us, and we enjoyed a really nice meal in one of the restaurant’s private rooms. Vincent himself even made a few appearances, and he offered us complimentary Limoncello at the end of the night. Can’t beat that!
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
